I’ve been playing the Katamari Damacy games my whole life, so it was a matter of time before I decided to create a costume of The Prince, the main protagonist of the series. The sprite does not have much detail, so I had free range of pattern and texture. I created some simple pants out of some curtains I found at the thrift store, and used the beaded trip around the face on the headpiece. I used a blanket I had laying around and cinched it with a simple corset belt. The headpiece received the most attention. It was a roll of 1” foam duct taped with a hold carved in it for my head. Then, I created a shell of the fashion fabric, with a gathering thread at either end to close the roll inside. I stuffed the end caps to look like a pillow with a button at the center. Finally, I covered the headpiece in trim following the pattern in the fabric. After I put all the pieces on, I blocked my brows and added some white makeup and we’re done!
